DSO National Laboratories (or DSO in short) is Singapore’s national defence research and development organisation. It undertakes indigenous development of advanced defence and weapon systems that provide the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) with the superior technological edge in the battlefield. While its primary focus is to support the SAF, DSO also extends its defence R&D capabilities to support homeland security. With more than 900 research scientists and engineers, DSO researches into emerging technologies, matures promising ones and integrates them into innovative system concepts to meet Singapore’s defence and security needs.


Science Centre Singapore is a non-formal educational institution dedicated to the promotion of science and technology among students and members of the public. As a leading Science Centre in the region, it has twelve exhibition galleries with more than 1,000 exhibits, and another 18,000 sq metres of outdoor space showcasing the exhibits of the Waterworks, Ecogarden and the Kinetic Garden.

The Centre also houses the Omni-Theatre – Singapore’s only IMAX dome theatre with a capacity of 276 seats. The 40-minute educational IMAX movies provide an immersive, cinematic experience for all in the family. Science Centre receives more than 900,000 visitors annually.

The Aeromodelling Federation of Singapore (AFS) consists of 8 aeromodelling clubs in Singapore to promote aeromodelling as a sport in Singapore and produce world class aeromodellers.

Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is a research-intensive university with globally acknowledged strengths in science and engineering. The university has roots that go back to 1955 when Nanyang University was set up. The National University of Singapore High School of Mathematics and Science (NUS High School) is a specialised independent school that aims to cultivate and nurture whole individuals through its curriculum, co-curricular activities and enrichment programmes. Established in 1954 to meet the manpower needs identified by the government, Singapore Polytechnic (SP) is Singapore’s first educational institution of its kind. Its nine academic schools offer more than 40 full-time diploma courses for its 15,000 students and courses are kept relevant through close links with industry and government bodies, as well as with various overseas institutions. SP offers broad-based, multi-disciplinary and flexible curriculum dedicated to hands-on experience and is committed to the development of its applied research and development capability to enhance the quality of teaching and commercialisation efforts.
